Al-Salām (Salubrious away from all imperfections)
Al-Ghazali:
Al-Salām is Al-Ladhi (That Which),
Hu’s
Dhāt (Innate Essence) is away
from any faults, shortcomings or evil. The same applies for Hu’s
Attributes.
Salām can and should be applied to the slaves of Allah as in
Salim:
26:89. "But only he (will prosper) that brings to Allah a Salim (sound)
heart "
37:84. "Behold! He (Abraham) approached his Lord with a Salim (sound)
heart"
This is when the heart is healthy, free from the illnesses of envy,
anger, lusts and tendencies towards evil thoughts, words and actions.
Qurtubi:
The attribute of Salim does not apply to a Muslim unless the rest of
the Muslims are safe from his tongue and from his hand. ( His words and
actions can never be harmful against his brothers and sisters)

It has been noted from the life of the Prophet, peace be upon him, that
he never took revenge against anyone, not even once. (For that reason
abstaining from revenge is a good requirement for being Salim (Sound
and healthy in the heart))
