Know, may Allah give you greatness in both worlds, that Shari'a is the spoken-word of the prophets, and Tariqa is the doing of the prophets, and Haqiqa is the vision of the prophets i.e. Shari'a is spoken and Tariqa is actionable and Haqiqa is circumstantial.

First, Salik (Voyager) ought to learn all that is possible about Shari'a, then to do all that is possible for Tariqa so that he could be exposed to the rays of Haqiqa.

Dara: Shari'a is discussions about a trip or you might say trip planning, Tariqa is the well-trodden road and Haqiqa is sight-seeing along this road.

O Darwish! Whomever accepts what the prophet said he is from Ahl-e Shari'a (People of Shari'a), and whomever does what the prophet did he is from Ahl-e Tariqa (People of Tariqa) and whomever sees what the prophet saw he is from Ahl-e Haqiqa (People of Haqiqat).

Whomever has all three then he has all three, whomever has two then has two, and whomever has only one then has only one, and whomever has none of them has none.  (Dara: it is not a matter of logic who has how many of them)

O Darwish! Those who have all three are perfected and they are the (spiritual) leaders of the people, those who have none of the three are beasts.

O Darwish! Know with certainty that most people have the shape of a human but have no meaning of being human, truly they are mules and cows and wolves and leopards and snake and scorpion. There should be no doubt within you that they are carnal. (Dara: mules and cows we treat with care, we chase away wolves and leopards, we kill snakes and scorpions)

In every community there are some who have the form of a human and are human beings and the rest of the people have the shape of a human and no concept there of, as was said by Allah:

7:179. Many are the Jinns and men we have made for Hell: They have hearts wherewith they understand not, eyes wherewith they see not, and ears wherewith they hear not. They are like cattle, nay more misguided: for they are heedless (of warning).
